This is a 12-week comprehensive pole vault training program to work within the High School track and field season. It is written specifically for high school coaches and athletes to start the first day of the season through the state meet.  Speed is the most important part of the vault and this program will make you and your athletes fast. It's helped many coaches and vaulters hit new personal records.

High School Plan VS General Prep Plan

There are 2 major difference between the plans

  • With the high school training plan, the weeks are set up to accommodate a High School meet schedule that has 1, 2 or even 3 meets a week. The general prep plan assumes you're training in a time where you don't have meets every week. In short,
The high school plan is better if you're focusing on training while competing. The general prep plan is better if you're focusing on training.
  • There are typically 3 phases to a training plan. The general prep phase, the specific prep phase, and the competition phase where each phase typically takes 2 months to complete. The general prep plan creates better speed and strength adaptations since you have more time in the appropriate phase. In the high school training program, we crammed 24 weeks of work into 12 weeks but we lose some speed and strength adaptation since the process is sped up. In short

The highschool plan is better if you're season is only 3 months. The general prep plan is better if your season is longer than 3 months

In contrast, if you were to get a personal trainer it would cost you upwards to $80 dollars a session!  If you were to have a trainer work with you 5 days a week for a month it would cost you roughly $1600... and I can almost guarantee that it wouldn't be a high-quality sports-specific training program. For a fraction of the price, you will have that specific training program that will take you to the next level.

Typical Break Down

Cost of Personal Training:  = 1 session = $60-$100

My Plan:  $299.99/90 days = 1 session = $3.33

It's a lot (and that's a good thing) for a new coach.

All the information is a bit overwhelming to someone who is new to pole vault as a coach, but the amount of information is helping build my confidence that I will eventually be a competent coach in this event. The information is related in a way can be understood without having to know too much specific pole vault jargon. The training plan has allowed me have a discussion with my athletes about the direction and purpose of our training. The plan has also provided a framework for collaborative structure of practice and meet preparation.

Diversity of training

The content of the training videos is amazing. The diversity of the warm-up videos alone has kept warm-ups engaging and fun for the vaulters. The information contained in the videos has helped unravel a lot of technical difficulties the younger vaulters encounter. which has accelerated their progress.
