BANDS: How To use Guide

A Band For Every Step of Your Journey

If you're here, you're freaking awesome.

I created these bands based on everything I’ve learned while working through my own mental health journey.

The wild part? After years of therapy, hospital stays, countless books, and conversations with mental health experts, I realized the same tools that helped me feel better were also helping me perform better—in sports and in life. And when I started sharing them with my athletes, they felt it too.

So trust me when I say: these bands aren't just accessories—they're tools to help you thrive, on and off the runway.

How to use the bands?

A good place to start is to watch the video below. It'll show you how the mind works and why you may be experiencing things like

  • Anxiety and stress
  • A lack of focus
  • Self doubt
  • Feeling stuck
  • Running through
  • or a whole slew of other things

Here’s the deal: your brain is wired to protect you from threats. Sometimes those threats are physical, sometimes they’re emotional—sometimes they’re both.

When your brain senses a threat, it triggers a fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response through your sympathetic nervous system to keep you safe.

I explain all of this in the video, but in short—these bands (besides looking awesome 😎) are tools to help you regulate emotions and get your brain back to a state where you can perform at your best.

Pretty cool, right?

So check out the video below, or skip ahead to the tools and start rocking and rolling.

Oh, and if you’re already feeling good, the bands can still help you level up—like mental weight training for the tools you already have.

Let’s get going!

What's going on in the brain?

3 Ways you can use your band

Below are three powerful, science-backed techniques taught by sports psychologists and mental health professionals. I’ve been teaching them for years—and honestly, I’m still amazed by how much they help.

Try one or try all three. Like anything, the more you practice, the better they work.

Fun fact: I used box breathing right before giving a talk to a few hundred people. Pretty sure I would’ve thrown up if I hadn’t done a few rounds first... haha.

The One Whole Life Podcast

My podcast might help you.

I’ve interviewed a ton of mental health experts on my podcast—and if you're a pole vaulter, I'd definitely start with the episodes featuring sports psychology wizard Robert Andrews. There are three of them, and each one is packed with golden nuggets of wisdom.

It's hosted on Spotify, but you can find it anywhere you listen to podcasts.

That's it for now.

I hope something here helps you. Every band was created from a place that was healed or helped me in some way, shape, or form.

Sharing these ideas is both scary and vulnerable, but dang—if they helped me, maybe they can help you too.

So, thank you for being part of my journey, and thanks for allowing me to be part of yours.

One more time—you’re awesome.
